OVERNIGHTS: LAMU ISLAND

This morning you will fly to Nairobi where you will connect with the flight to the tranquil, exotic island of Lamu. The island is a beautiful place of rolling sand dunes and endless beaches washed by the Indian Ocean. It has the added attraction of its Old Town which began life as a 14th century Swahili settlement and has seen many visitors, including Portuguese explorers, Turkish traders and the Omani Arabs who were once rulers of The East African coast. All have left their mark, but Lamu has developed its own particular culture which has ultimately endured. The town is listed by UNESCO as a world heritage site.

Explore the Old Town, go on a cultural heritage tour, sundowner excursions, sailing, wind-surfing, kayaking, bird walks, deep sea fishing – these are just some of the activities available.
